2019 Pantone colour of the Year: Living Coral
Underwhelmed is an understatement at the 2019 Pantone colour of the year. Living Coral, is a orange tone with golden undertones.
Predicted to dominate all of 2019, you will definitely be seeing Living Coral tones in all aspects of the design industry; from Interiors to fashion respectively. The bright marine tone is described as “buoyant, vibrant and effervescent".
With the current climate; politically, socially and environmentally; I do feel that the tone (and name) does naively misrepresent the ongoing current mood of a huge population. With climate change and its affect on the sea-life being a growing topic in todays society, it begs the question, whether the announcement of this 2019's tone will have a positive influence. I do predict a massive influx of the colour in fashion and interior accessories over the coming weeks and months. What would be interesting to see is how it would be presented on the high street and if consumers take to it.
